"US" -According to Her

Well, as you can see my cute husband created us a blog. I was super excited and he did such a good job! I decided my first post should be an introduction about Colt and me. How we met, how we fell in love, what we do…you know, all the good stuff that you probably don’t know about us.

How we met

Our initial introduction wasn’t the most ideal setting.  I was with Colt’s cousins, Jason and Adam, on our way to go rock climbing. They told me they were going to make a quick stop to say hi to a cousin who had just gotten home from a mission. When I say just…I mean 20 minutes from being released! Yep, I met Colt’s whole family and felt a little out of place being the only person there that wasn’t a member of the family. Colt of course had a crisp missionary part and was a little shocked with the whole being home thing. I am sure I made matters worse when rock climbing he referred to me as a “sister” and I just looked at him like he was completely weird. Yeah, I was brat I admit it. Poor guy.

How we fell in L-O-V-E

In fast mode….We weren’t really friends after our rough intro, then we dated and that didn’t work out either. We took separate paths and then Colt took my roommates and me rafting. (1 year and 3 months after he came home from the mish) We had a blast and we started dating again. We spent the summer together and rather quickly decided that we wanted to get married. He proposed by taking me on a hike (a hilarious story in itself), made me two treasure maps that led me to where my treasure was. I was completely surprised since we hadn’t even gone ring shopping. Yes, I wore a fake ring for about a month of our engagement and loved it. Once engaged, Colt went to Provo and I went to Rexburg. Our engagement felt like forever especially when we only got to see each other on the weekends! December 20th finally arrived and it couldn’t have been more perfect!

Here is a taste of what we do
  • Colt is a full time student and an aspiring entrepreneur. Our normal conversations usually consist of us talking about potential business ideas.
  •  I am currently doing my internship at an accounting firm. On a daily basis I do corporate and individual tax returns. Sounds fun right!? Yeah, I may not end up doing taxes the rest of my life but I have learned so much! April 15th is just around the corner. Have you finished your taxes?
  •  We recycle. J I wasn’t really into before I married Colt but he convinced me that it would be good for us to do. Now, I love it! The trash needs to be taken out at least half as often.
  • We only eat homemade wheat bread and our favorite snack is homemade almond butter and honey on top of it! Mmm…delicious.
  •  Sometimes Colt sleep talks and I just lay in bed laughing my head off. The other night he said, “Jordan (referring to his cousin) doesn’t like remote control airplanes.” I asked him why and he responded “Because they are dishonest.” I love it.
  • Sometimes we argue over the dumbest things and then end up laughing about them later. I like to think that every married couple does this.  I mean you all do this, right!?
  • We go on bike rides EVERY day the sun is shining.

"What? I have a Blog?"

This is what my wife is going to say when she checks her Facebook wall next time she logs on. My wife, Kassi, not only loves reading blogs, but also venerates them. Daily she pours over photography blogs (especially during our engagement), cooking blogs (ourbestbites.com), blogs of friends and family, and other well-known blogs (Nienie’s blog).

As of lately, she has been debating to create a blog of her own. You might have seen the following post on her Facebook wall:

Some are for it, and some are against it. What do I, her husband, think? I completely support her starting a blog. Why? In our old age, I would like to look back at the story of our lives. Technology has made this to be something that our grandparents never thought would be possible when they first started their marriage: a journal with text, photos, and even videos. This is one reason why I would like to surprise her with a blog. Another reason is that I am overdue to give her another surprise, and she definitely deserves one.

I am somewhat familiar with blogs. I often read business and news blogs. However, I don’t believe this fits Kassi’s type of blog. Therefore I had to do some research and so I started to visit the blogs she often visits. At one time Operation Blog Surprise was almost destroyed when Kassi poked her head around the corner to see that I was looking at a blog of a good friend of hers. I didn’t want to ruin the surprise, and so I let it create one of the greatest awkward moments that a married couple could have. Luckily Kassi had homework, and I was able to go back to the project. When she reads this, it will definitely make more sense.

These are some of the common characteristics of blogs that I discovered in my research:
  • it is cute to write with no capitals. this is just not my style. Capitals make it seem more masculine.
  • Kassi likes how NieNie always refer to her husband as Mr. Neilson. Should I refer myself as Mr. Henrie on her blog? Nah.
  • Cute photography. Hopefully my first photo passed
  • Cute Music. I posted the first two songs I dedicated to her.
  • Blogs posts need to be short.

The last bullet point is important, and so I will end it quickly. I would hate to lose a reader with length. Come back in the near future to check a post that is actually done by Kassi. I will try to post as well so we could show both views in different situations. Hopefully this will add to the entertainment value to your stalking experience.  Thank you for reading.
